I'm considering a 1200 Series tractor and could use some information. The attraction to me about these models is their small size. I won't do much mowing because 4 of my 5 acres is wooded. I'll be clearing snow, hopefully grading or leveling some soil with either a York rake or a small box blade and mowing underbrush in the woods which is mostly small saplings. Do the hydro drive systems wear out as these machines age resulting in a costly overhaul? Will I need power steering to manuever around trees? If so, which models offered power steering (e.g., 1215, 1220)? Is this model too small for a loader?

I have a 1220 with almost 2800 hours,4WD,PS,60 midmower no loader.
I had to put new injectors in it at 2700 hours, thats all thats been done to it.
It's used to cut about 2 acers of grass, and plow the drive way and other things.Never had a problem would buy another one.

I have a Ford/NH 1215 with only 300 hours on it. I've had no problems with the tractor yet and I work the heck out of it considering its size. I've run a 48" Bush Hog, 48" belly mower, york rake, 60" back blade and single bottom plow, all with no problem. I recently installed a Great Bend 220 Loader on it with a 48" bucket, again, no problems, although I usually carry a counterwieght on the back when doing heavy loader work. 4WD is a must. I do not have PS, which would be nice with the loader. Keep in mind these tractors are small, only 16 HP. You may have problems with bigger implements. I rented a 60" rotary tiller which was too big for the tractor and forced me to make several passes to get to the depth I wanted. My neighbor has a 1210 which is basically the same machine. He has over 1200 hours and has had no major problems. ....

Hi,
I have the opportunity to buy an '84 Ford 1210, not sure of a price. The tractor is kinda beat up as it was used for cleaning out manure from a cow barn and mowing grass with a rear finishing mower. There are agricultural tires on it since it was used as a loader, and i was also wondering if you can get turf tires for it? It has HST transmission, and im not sure if its in running condition. Would it be worth it to buy it and overhaul/restore it for use with a belly or rear finishing mower? Also are the parts for it widely avaliable at New Holland dealers or are they hard to get? It is the same as the one in the picture below but in worse condition. Thanks for the help.
Kyle
